Motorcycle Supershow 2013 in #Toronto

Over 425,000 square feet of motorcycles, models and accessories brought together thousands of enthusiasts into the North American International Motorcycle Supershow January 4-6 at the International Centre. The show lives up to its name best attended motorcycle show as the long lines of cars found space in the free parking spaces of the incredibly large International Centre, the GO Station and every other parking lot within a reasonable walking distance. My favourite, besides the beautiful models (see photos of the lovely ladies on my post here), were the custom bikes which could be found in Hall 5.
The 37th "everything to do with motorcycling" weekend show was presented by Dalton Timmis Insurance and with more than 500 exhibitors and many motorcycle clubs along with upcoming rides and rallies on display the attendees had plenty of bikes to drool over and buy. The Canada Cup Championship Custom Show Bike competition had $50,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs.

New and used motorcycles were available for purchase and there were many SOLD signs on bikes throughout all seven halls of the "Big One by the Airport" at the International Centre. Many of the bikes and accessories had show only sales prices. Cruisers, motocross, off-road, vintage, touring, custom bikes, sport bikes, scooters and ATVs were represented. The show finishes tomorrow, starting at 10 am until 6 pm.
The founder of the show, Bar Hodgson, turned 75 in 2013 and has been a rider, motorcycle club president, motorcycle designer and builder, dealer and has produced the show since 1977. Bar has also founded the Canadian Motorcycle Heritage Museum Foundation and the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame. This man knows motorcycles and he knows how to put on a varied and interesting show. Dalton Timmis Insurance who have sponsored the show over the last few years have continued to engage clients and prospective clients to continue as the National leader in providing motorcycle insurance coverage.
I noticed that Harley Davidson is making some pretty big cruising bikes which will help you celebrate the 110th anniversary of the iconic motorcycle brand when you head out onto the highway for those long rallies.

Toronto Dymes Fashion Show

Joining motorcycle promo ladies sprinkled throughout the facility were fashion and leather shows and live bands on the main stage. Magazines like Inside Motorcycle were a big part of the show and had specials available, so you can read when you can't ride.

Keep the March 16-17, 2013 International Spring Motorcycle Show as the Canadian riding season gets closer. And for the racing fans the Superbike Doubleheader Weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport) is scheduled for August 9-11, 2013. Canada's biggest motorcycle racing event  features Summerfest and several national championships as well as the 5th annual road racers reunion with the Masters of Mosport.

Thank goodness the facility was so large because otherwise the crowds would have been intense, instead the halls absorbed all the biking fans in theTouring & Cruising Halls 1 & 2, Industry Showcase Halls 3 & 3A (and used bike market), The Vintage and Classic Hall 4A (and the MX Stars of Tomorrow) and the Choppers & Custom Bikes Hall 5.

In Hall 3A "Looking for a used bike? The SUPERSHOW is a great place to find one. There will be three areas for Used Bikes being sold by private individuals and Dealers at this year's Show. Hall 3A is the General SUPERSHOW Used Bike Market - perfect for street bikes, cruisers, scooters, trikes, dirt bikes, etc. Hall 4A features the Vintage & Classic Bike Market - find collectible motorcycles as well as affordable, reliable classic. Hall 5 features the Chopper & Custom Bike Market - find that custom chopper you've always wanted, or a great deal on a used production model."

The guts of the Altometheus 2 on display above. The 1650cc 20 foot long three wheeled motorcycle raced the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2010 with 120hp on methanol fuel and boosted to 180hp when nitrous oxide is triggered. Driver John Renwick of Great Britain drove 200 mph when the front tire blew out - before he had added the nitrous boost.

Joshua Mayhem and Frank Zhang from Airbrushing 4U were at the show and besides having some lovely models on hand, they also applied free temporary tattoos to 20 lucky people each day of the show.
