For the 23rd year the market overflowed with a colourful assembly gathering at Oxford and Augusta Streets before heading out at 6:30pm to Baldwin, Kensington and Dundas before stopping in Alexandra Park for the spectacular fire sculpture closing ceremony. A giant colourful hand located in the baseball diamond held a sun, or maybe just a large lemon, which was circled by fire jugglers and eventually set alight. Of course the rain was out for the night as well and by the end of the fire the temperature had made a large drop and snow flakes started to fall.
Flames leapt high in the air as the hand burned fast and furious as the fire jugglers continued to circle the diamond spinning fire as they moved. Sparks flew from the fire as the embers caught in the wind.
Red Pepper Spectacle Arts produces the event with support from the Kensington Market BIA and the Market Action Committee. See more of the magical night after the jump.
