CityNEWS #Toronto reporter @CityCynthia reports from Carlton Street in front of Maple Leaf Gardens as thousands of demonstrators marched to Maple Leaf Gardens on Saturday, January 26, 2013. The Liberal leadership convention taking place inside becomes the focal point of teacher's anger over Bill 115 which set aside union negotiations and replaced them with imposed contracts. You can see more of the protest on my blog post here.
While delegates inside pick a new party leader and Provincial Premier, the unions and their supporters flood the area and the police closed down several streets within the downtown core.
Check out the various places we have seen the media personality work her broadcast magic as she keeps the city informed: http://torontogp.blogspot.ca/2011/10/television-news-reporters-and-anchors.html, http://torontogp.blogspot.ca/2009/12/cynthia-mulligan-reporting-for-citytv.html and http://torontogp.blogspot.ca/2012/08/cynthia-mulligan-at-aloha-toronto.html.

Accusing the #Toronto Sun of racism the Idle No More members head from St James Park to the Sun's King Street East office where SUN News commentator Ezra Levant came out to interview the protesters. People chanted that he was a "racist" or a "douche" and many yelled to interrupt the interviews as he talked to the crowd.

Asked to leave the protest at the SUN building

The police took Ezra to the side and asked him to leave, whereupon he said that he was calm and not breaking any law. The protesters said that Ezra was promoting hate and should be arrested. After the police request for him to leave, he asked if he began to yell would the police escort the protesters away? He then stated that if they wanted to arrest him, to go ahead and then he returned to the microphone interviews. Once people began to talk to Ezra some of the protesters broke into the conversation and said "ok, that's enough" to stop the interviews.

1000 Balsam Fir Trees were on sale at the 6th annual BT and Home Depot Tree Sale in #Toronto. Breakfast Television was broadcasting live from Yonge-Dundas Square as hosts Kevin Frankish, Dina Pugliese (abover), Jennifer Valentyne and Frank Ferragine put on their show and were well on their way to sell out all the trees to raise money for the Daily Bread Food Bank.
Minimum donations of $10 got you a six to eight foot Christmas tree, perfect for the home or office, while you could watch the CityTV BT hosts, listen to music from the Panache Community Steel-Band and get some free hot chocolate or coffee. The official event is on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 5:30 am to 10:30 am but they intend to stay on site until all the trees are sold. The biggest lineup was for the chance to win prizes. I watched Kevin and Dina start a countdown for two contestants in a tree trimming contest and the decorations were flying.

See more after the jump.
