#Toronto spy-craft just got the star treatment as the man with a licence to kill has a lot of secrets on display at tiff. The design of the elements in the movies help set the man apart from run of the mill spies - you know, the type without the licence.
If you want pictures inside the exhibition you will need to bring a spy camera because photography is not allowed. In the hallway you can check out some swimsuits used in the films including Halle Berry's orange number (complete with knife), Ursula Andress' white bikini and the trunks of both Sean Connery and Daniel Craig.
"Making its North American premiere at TIFF Bell Lightbox following its unveiling at London’s Barbican Centre this past summer, Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition ever devoted to Bond, featuring costumes, props, models, gadgets, concept artwork, storyboards and other fascinating artifacts from the series. Signature Bond items featured in the exhibition include the steel teeth worn by Richard “Jaws” Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me(1977); the Anthony Sinclair overcoat worn by Sean Connery in Dr. No(1962); the poker table from Casino Royale (2006); and multiple gadgets from Q Branch."

Hollywood North can grind you up and spit you out and they use a shark to do it. The #Toronto @tiff_net has a neighbour of the Great White type near Roy Thomson Hall and David Peacut Square. This was not a filming accident. We will also need a bigger red carpet.
The shark head was part of a promotion for The Golden Scallop movie.
From IMDB: "Every year since 1969 the best three fried fish restaurants in the northeast have competed in the Golden Scallop Championship. The 43rd annual pits a food truck seeking redemption, an aging former champion and a well financed, novelty friendly fish house against each other in the truest test of short order cooking mettle. Follow the excitement, hilarity, and chaos as "The Golden Scallop" tracks these teams from selection till the glory of victory or the agony of defeat."

Bell's O Cinema! blue wall of graffiti is being painted beside Roy Thomson Hall in #Toronto as part of @tiff_net. The tribute to the art of Canadian filmaking utilizes leading street artists as they apply street art talents to the mainstream festival. Artist Monk-e works on his panel on September 7, 2012.
Five cinema inspired street-art installations will be created at various times and locations near the main TIFF hub at Roy Thomson Hall beginning at 4 pm on September 6, the first day of the Festival.

"TIFF is a premier international film festival and Canadian cinema has of course played a leading role in the Festival's growth and continued success. This year Bell is inviting everyone to make our innovative tribute to the success of Canadian film part of their TIFF 2012 experience," said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility and Residential Services, and Bell's Chief Brand Officer.

David Peacut Square at Metro Hall is often the hub of celebrity excitement and often has art or other promotional activities to support tiff. Fans line up for hours and also circle the long red carpet installation waiting for the stars to show up. The photographer pictured above is on stilts for a great view of the action.

Veet had a red carpet set up with ladies in pink and were giving away Veet products
Toronto Star had some art installation newspaper boxes on hand, I didn't check if they had newspapers inside
Across the street people gathered along the edges of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel waiting for stars and looking at the fancy cars
I heard that Kristen Stewart was staying at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel (above) and to ensure her privacy she wanted the windows covered. They draped half the hotel to ensure no one could see inside her room. This may or may not have been correct - you never can tell with rumours.
The annual celebrity love in that is the @tiff_net festival begins today and lasts for ten days. Ten glorious days of lineups and flashbulbs firing off at a furious rate. I always hope that I see someone famous just picking up a lottery ticket at the local convenience store.
Thursday September 6 is the launch of the festival that is really about movies - the celebrities are just a bonus, and ending on September 16, 2012. What am I saying, for Toronto it's about the stars coming to Canada! Much of our city will be deserted as people line up for tiff tickets, huddle for hours or days around the tiff red carpets or fill the theatres as they watch the movies that make up this year's film festival.

“Growing up as a filmmaker from Toronto, there is no higher benchmark for me than to have a film selected to play at TIFF,” said Sadowski. “It’s always a great challenge to tell a meaningful story in a short period of time, so my job as a filmmaker is to ensure there is an emotional payoff.”

Another tiff premier of Canadian talent will feature Montreal actor Emily Hampshire in My Akward Sexual Adventure, written and produced by Jonas Chernick and directed by Sean Garrity. The movie starts at 7pm on Tuesday September 11 at the Scotiabank Theatre. Emily plays the female lead who helps a reserved accountant to gain some experience in the sack in an effort to win back his ex-girlfriend.
“Shooting My Awkward Sexual Adventure was quite the remarkable experience for me. This was a gift of a role and working with Sean Garrity changed me as an actor. I’m thrilled the film is premiering at TIFF,” said Hampshire. "I am really excited to screen it with an audience."

This year tiff will also feature an exhibition called Designing 007: 50 Years of Bond from October 26 to January 20. "After 50 years of popularity, the James Bond franchise continues to entertain and intrigue audiences around the world.Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style, focuses on the distinctly British luxuriance of the world's most iconic movie brand. Organised by the Barbican Centre, London, in partnership with EON Productions, the innovative exhibition examines one of the most significant film and cultural icons of all time, and Bond’s influence on art, music, lifestyle, automotive design, travel, technology and fashion. The exhibition that will have its North American premiere at TIFF Bell Lightbox, running from October 26, 2012 to January 20, 2013. The parties that go on are probably more important for Toronto than the actual films. Now that the Trump International Hotel and Tower has opened in our city their STOCK Restaurant Bar and Lounge will be serving gallons of Dom Perignon champagne to the famous and the beautiful. If you don't like the Perignon you can chug some Ace of Spades Brut or Rose or even the Cristal Brut that Master Sommelier John Szabo has stocked the bar with.
“I love Champagne, a feeling I’d like to share with as many people as possible. To make that happen, we offer an exceptional range of top brands and limited production, hand-crafted grower Champagnes at STOCK Restaurant,” said John Szabo, Master Sommelier and Wine Director for STOCK Restaurant. ”There’s a style for everyone, and a perfect pairing for every dish on our menu. Or, sit comfortably in the lounge while sipping a glass of top bubbly and enjoy the star gazing.”

Developing emerging Canadian cinema talent is one of the many activities that allows the #Toronto International Film Festival (@TIFF_Net) to give back to the film industry. Joining with the charitable foundation of the late Brian Linehan and the Canadian Film Centre, the partners choose 4 Rising Stars to particpate in an intensive series of events, meetings and professional development. This year actors Charlie Carrick, Connor Jessup, Tatiana Maslany and Charlotte Sullivan were chosen as the Rising Stars during the second annual programme.
2012 Rising Star jury members included filmmakers Clement Vigo and Michael McGowan; casting director Deirdre Bowen; Executive in Charge of Music & Acting Talent at the CFC, Larissa Giroux; along with Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of TIFF.

This year's actors already come with some outstanding credentials and awards: Charlie Carrick has been on stage, television and in the movies appearing in V and Flashpoint among many other credits. Connor Jessup starred in a Steven Spielberg movie and also produces, writes and directs. Tatiana Maslany who has acted with Ray Liotta, Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. To round out the quartet of Rising Stars is Charlotte Sullivan, a local actress from Toronto who played Marilyn Monroe in the Kennedys and acted with Kathy Bates, Peter O'Toole and Woody Harrelson, and is currently in the cast of Rookie Blue.
The 2011 winners were Sarah Allen, Katie Boland, Sarah Gadon and Keon Mohajeri and all have been very busy since being the first of the Rising Stars.
Toronto will welcome the 37th Film Festival beginning on September 6 and running to September 16, 2012. The red carpets and lineups will soon be starting. Don't forget to check out the fun that always happens at David Peacut Square.
Celebrities are warming up the jets for the #Toronto International Film Festival @TIFF_net as the announcements are made for the 2012 festival galas and presentations. Lineups and crowds will be some of the fun activities awaiting fans, so be ready for a wait behind a red velvet rope (official TIFF ropes in the photo above - a star might have touched the actual ropes).
TIFF will open with the world premiere gala presentation of 'Looper', a time travelling action thriller by filmmaker Rian Johnson and featuring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
"This is a new kind of Opening Night: an exciting, thinking-person’s action film from a director who really understands genre.” In TriStar Pictures, FilmDistrict, and Endgame Entertainment’s Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good... until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe's future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination."
The festival runs September 6-16, 2012 and is billed as second to the CFF (Cannes Film Festival), but way ahead of MUFF (I can't remember what film festival this is, I think it is in the southern hemisphere). The much awaited event will have an astounding 38 World Premiers.
