The long green line marched between sidewalks full of Irish and Irish fans during the Sunday, March 17, 2013 St Patrick's Day Parade. Starting at noon from Bloor and St George before heading down Yonge Street and later passing by the review stand on Queen Street West in front of City Hall. Joe and I dressed up as Irish Vikings.

Thursday, February 14, 2013 is love day, 'exciting and new, come aboard, we're expecting you. Love, life's sweetest reward. Let it flow, it floats back to you'. Okay, that was really part of the lyrics to the Love Boat by Paul Williams. I will be seeing a little Yippee ki-yay at the theatres on Valentines with the release of the latest Die Hard movie: A Good Day to Die Hard. Ahhh, now that is love.

A small tent was set up on the front lawn of the Old City Hall / Court House behind banners that read "Hunger Strike" and "International Human Rights Day Now". The tent was soon moved off the lawn and onto the sidewalk at Queen Street West and Bay Street.

The city's advertising displays litter downtown sidewalks and do not stop anyone from plastering signs and banners on any available surface. Sometimes, though, they have interesting things posted. I found this sign that has two women facing each other with the saying "DO NOT be rude". According to the rules of all caps they are shouting DO NOT, which is really rude!

Here is my top ten list of rude things in Toronto.

1. On busy peak hour sidewalk traffic people walk slowly in packs and no one can pass. Or they talk on the cellphone and immediately slow down to a crawl. Or they just stop.

2. Pedestrians that break the law and get mad at cars when they honk.

3. Leaving dog poo after their dog does their business.

4. Not understanding a queue. I mean it is a simple line - don't bud.

5. Aggressive homeless that ask for money and then swear at you when you don't cough up some dough.

6. Drivers that cut in at the last minute on the eastbound Gardiner off ramp onto Spadina. (and any other off ramp).

7. Bikers that don't follow rules and then get mad at car drivers.

8. Stores where they staff stay on the phone or they don't talk to you, except to say how much you owe.

9. Sarcastic people.

10. People that litter. It is an amazing sight when someone tosses a bag of garbage out their car window.

#Toronto politics continues its leap into the unknown. Mayor Rob Ford's battle against meat sauce took a little detour when he was found guilty of conflict of interest and turfed from office. Rather than put away the Mayor's chain of office he has filed for appeal and asked for a stay so that he can continue as Mayor until the appeal is heard and judged.
If the stay is not requested, or the appeal is not successful, then Ford will get the boot and City Council then has 60 days to decide what to do. They can appoint someone or they can call an election. It seems that very few members on council support the Mayor and they would probably like to appoint anyone other than Ford. Especially as it would save the approximate 7 million dollars that it would cost to run the election. It must be killing Rob Ford that he must count on the council to allow an election, which he can legally run in, and hope that the people of Toronto will once again vote for him, as opposed to say, SPUD 4 Mayor.

Cameron House gets a makeover with an upside down 'This is Paradise' as well as a straight up 'This is Paradise'. No matter how you look at it, Toronto really is Paradise. See more of the older Cameron House on my post here.
